French Immersion in Languedoc

Enhance your language skills, deepen your understanding of French culture, and gain confidence in using French in real-life situations.

Immersion

When you learn a new language, acquiring the basics is essential. Taking a class will do that for you. But while traveling, being able to ask a native for directions does not mean you will understand the answer; being able to read a menu does not mean you will be able to converse with a waiter and understand his/her explanation. This skill comes with prolonged exposure to the language and to real-life interactions. This is what an immersion program will do for you!

This 5-day immersive French class is designed for you to enhance your language skills, deepen your understanding of French culture, and gain confidence in using French in real-life situations. The program combines language instruction with cultural experiences to provide a well-rounded learning experience. Each day will focus on a specific theme and language skill.

The program runs from Monday morning to Friday evening, and includes 15 hours of formal instruction. We start the day with breakfast between 8:00 and 9:00am, after which we begin our 3 hours of language training. Then, you will prepare lunch together with Géraldine, in French! In the afternoon, you can spend your free time hiking, biking, or lounging by the pool. You can also choose to go out, meet people and continue to improve your speaking skills and listening comprehension by talking to French people! On Wednesday and on Friday afternoons, we will go on an excursion together, to a destination of your choice.

On the first morning (Monday), we will assess your level and create your schedule for the week. This will include grammar points to work on, your choice of activities and/or excursions.

The program offers a great degree of flexibility, so if one day you select an activity you would rather do in the morning, formal classes can be switched to the afternoon. If you wish to do no formal classes, we can replace them with conversation or activities.
